Sunol
Sunol
Sunol is a small rural town in Alameda County, located along the Niles Canyon Railroad for which it is known. The railway stops in Sunol, carrying passengers from all over, as does the Altamont Commuter Express en route to San Jose and the Central Valley. Sunol is steeped in history with the preservation of The Depot, built in 1884, and the Roman-inspired Sunol Water Temple, that pipes water to San Francisco. There is also the Little Brown Church, built in 1885, which hosts weddings and community events, and the Repertory Theatre, which produces plays and musicals. A small community with a big heart, Sunol lies at the southern tip of the Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park and is alive with vineyards and olive groves. It is a great escape from the bustle of the city life, but only minutes away from Fremont on its famous seven-mile scenic drive along Niles Canyon Road. Offering fresh air and good living, Sunol is Alameda County's hidden treasure.
